Day 1: Into the Wild & The Journey to the Highlands
Bentota, Safari Zone & Ella
After working up an appetite in the wild, we'll stop for a delicious local lunch before ascending into the cool, misty climate of the Sri Lankan highlands. Upon arriving in the laid-back mountain town of Ella, we will visit the roaring Ravana Waterfall, steeped in ancient folklore. Next, take a short trek to witness the Nine Arch Bridge, a massive viaduct hidden deep in the jungle, built entirely of rock, brick, and cement.
Overnight Stay: Ella Hotel
Your adventure begins early as we depart Bentota and head southeast toward the wild dry zone. Your morning kicks off with a thrilling 4x4 jeep safari, and you get to choose the destination:
Option 1:
Udawalawe National Park (Famed for its massive herds of wild elephants)
Yala National Park (Renowned for having one of the highest leopard densities in the world)
Option 2:
Day 2: The Panorama Train & Sacred Relics
Ella, Nuwara Eliya Region, Kandy & Bentota
Wake up to the crisp mountain air and board the world-famous Sri Lankan blue train right from Ella.
Settle in for a spectacular 3-hour panoramic train ride winding through the highlands. Enjoy a complimentary breakfast right on the train as you roll past vast tea estates, cascading waterfalls, and misty peaks, passing through 21 historic train canals/tunnels along the way.
After disembarking, we hit the road to visit a functioning Ceylon Tea Factory. You'll learn the art of tea plucking and processing, followed by a freshly brewed cup.
We then continue our descent to the historic city of Kandy. Here, you will visit the Sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), a UNESCO World Heritage site and the most revered Buddhist temple in Sri Lanka.
As evening sets in, sit back and relax in your private vehicle as we make the long, scenic drive back to drop you off at your hotel in Bentota.
